|After we gathered up all of our belongings and purchased new “Go With the Flow” T-shirts, we headed back to the Vernal Best Western - for SHOWERS. Everyone cleaned up and met for our last evening together at a charming house turned restaurant, whose name we forget. We sat with Carol and Carlos - who are from Patagonia and lead a trip for Audrey and Cloud Ridge Naturalists. Though we had chatted with them throughout the trip, this was our first opportunity to really talk. Perhaps we’ll see them again in Patagonia. After dinner and thank you speeches, we were all reluctant to say goodbye. Eventually the party broke up with hugs all around.
Monday morning we arose, had breakfast at the Best Western coffee shop, with Carol and Carlos, then headed for home, with a stop to take the 1.5 mile walk out to Harper’s Corner in Dinosaur National Monument, which reveals magnificent view, from over 1,000 feet above the river, of the Yampa/Green confluence, Echo Park, Steamboat Rock, the Mitten Park fault and Whirlpool Canyon.
