Day 7 - October 6 (cont'd)
The night is devoted to Balloon Glow. Back on the bus at 4:30 (p.m. this time!) and into the park, to wander among the booths and balloons. This time all the balloon activity is the same, but instead of it growing light, it is growing dark - and once dark, the balloons light up. The announcer counts down and then all the pilots fire their propane as the same time. Amazing! Then they take turns during a “flicker”, when every other one glows. This goes on for a half hour or so. As this is happening, we wander among them (imagine an entire forest of hot air balloons) and gape in delight at the designs that emerge. This is even better than the mass ascension of the day before! |
